2015 Chrysler Town & Country

The ultimate family vehicle will always be the minivan, no matter how much flack it gets. If you’ve never experienced riding in or driving one, then you don’t know what you’re missing. Imagine how easy it would be to load your kids into a vehicle with three rows of seats, a flat floor, tall ceiling, and sliding doors that don’t get in the way.

Despite all of these fantastic family-friendly features, many shy away from the minivan. Because of this, minivans don’t get many of the most sought-after features until years after other segments.

Despite this, we have recently learned that Chrysler is planning on making a plug-in hybrid minivan (PHEV).

Gas2 reports that Sergio Marcchione, head of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), confirmed that a PHEV Chrysler Town & Country should be ready to make its debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January 2016 as a 2017 model.

Here at Roger Williams Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we think this addition is long overdue. The minivan is the perfect vehicle for a hybrid option. What family doesn’t want to save money on gasoline? And, with a minivan’s build design, there is plenty of space for batteries and electric motors.

What do you think? Would you appreciate a hybrid option in the minivan segment?
