Former US Speaker and forever Texas legend Jim Wright was laid to rest earlier this month at Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford, Texas after a Fort Worth funeral service at the First United Methodist Church.
An enormous crowd of friends, family, and supporters was in attendance for the ceremony to pay their respects to this great leader, who was one of the last “traditional southern Democrats.”
Many political leaders thorough the country have shared their condolences over Wright’s death, including President Obama, who praised Wright as “a committed public leader and a proud World War II veteran who dedicated much of his life to serving his country.”
Jim Wright’s burial in Forth Worth brings him back to his home, where he will rest nearby other famous Forth Worth figures, such as former Governor S.W.T. Lanham, Broadway star Mary Martin, and others.
He will always be remembered as a true representative of his people, and his contributions to both Texas and the United States will never be forgotten.
