In order to promote fun and healthy lifestyles, Chrysler recently had a unique charity event: the Big Bike and Book Giveaway. Because May is National Bike Month, Chrysler wanted to make sure kids had enough bikes, helmets, and locks. Plus, free books are always great to encourage kids to read more.
Chrysler recognized that kids need both physical and mental exercise. The Big Bike and Book Giveaway event was created by FCA US in partnership with the Detroit Eastside Community Collaborative (DECC) to help over 400 kids get the supplies they need. According to Chrysler, over 100 FCA employees took time out to assemble 400 bikes in seven hours.
“The progress that these students have made in the classroom and as good citizens is another reason to be hopeful about Detroit’s future,” said Jody Trapasso, Senior Vice President of External Affairs for FCA North America and President of the FCA Foundation.
The Chrysler Big Bike and Book Giveaway event is just one of many conducted by the FCA Foundation. Since its foundation in 1953, the organization has been able to invest more than $500 million in charitable organizations. This is just one more way Chrysler is showing it truly cares.
